【同人。】All Those Beautiful Years[7.24 Revise/Update。]
He stood quietly, in front of the house, which had been terribly destroyed, with the familiar garden becoming totally ruins. Hearing nothing but curses and cries of fear, he barely felt miserable, for he only found it ridiculous to think about what had just happened.
‘What happened?’ A black-haired stranger patted him on the back. ‘You look quite down. Need help?’ Giving him a big smile, he took his trunk onto the train, while glaring at his long Greek robe as if waiting for his gratitude.
He was a little shocked, letting his attention back and staring at the warm-hearted stranger, surprised to find the boy looking a little familiar. He had a slim figure, smiling heartlessly, with his messy, black hair streaming back, made a strange sort of maroon in the brilliant sunshine. Sirius couldn’t help smiling arrogantly and wondering whether he had ever combed his hair or not.
‘Let’s go, your high mightiness. The train is about to go.’ Said the boy, trying to make his hair even messier, while the train was blowing a long whistle.
Sirius knitted, looking at him who was grinning impatiently. It seemed very difficult to take his trunk into the carriage, since each time when he nearly managed it, it slid from his hand again. ‘Would you mind giving me a hand?’
He shot him a puzzled look, thinking that there was nothing so heavy in his own trunk, still, came to help him. ‘Thanks.’ Said the boy briskly in a low voice, smiling him out of previous misgivings. But as isn’t expected, when he was about to hold half weight of the trunk the naughty guy suddenly loosened his grip. ‘A-ha!’
‘Ouch!’ Crying out despite himself, he nearly felt to the ground. As if quite pleased with his awkwardness, the boy could hardly help grinning.
He was shocked to find the train started moving slowly, jumping into the carriage without thinking, and soon found the boy was still grinning at him, unexpected to find himself not annoyed at all. He looked deeply into his dark-brown eyes, suddenly grinning, too. ‘Nice to meet you.’ James Potter said seriously.
It was the first time he met him, James his best friend during the whole life, the 11-year-old boy who spent all his time in playing tricks and then grinning heartlessly like a naughty kid. Sometimes he thought that James would never grow up, even though he had been a young father for quite a long time.
‘Get away from my house!’ James shouted, closing his eyes, ‘Lily, go! Let me…’ He turned backwards, staring at Lily the girl he had chased for nine years, and then fell to the floor, hardly feeling any pain. ‘Nothing can tear us apart.’ He heard a young, arrogant voice in his mind. Voldemort laughed madly, walking through the messy dining room, his long black robe waving… ‘Sirius, I’m sorry.’
James Potter wasn’t surprised that they soon became soul mates, even before the express arrived Hogwarts, the great School located near to wild marshes. He was scarcely meeting the boy when he found that young Sirius Black had a close resemblance to someone familiar in his mind. When Sirius jumped onto the train, showing him nothing but an arch smile, he came to be sure that they were the same sort- ‘Nice to meet you, too.’ Said Black, shaking hands with him.
‘Is there any seats in this compartment?’ Asked a shy voice. A boy of short and small build appeared behind the door, trying to calm his cat down and, obviously, failing time and again. He smiled to them, kind of nervously, his large, lustrous eyes blinking childishly. Sirius shot a quick glimpse at him.
‘Welcome.’ Coolly, Sirius took his trunk under the bed, making room for the new comer. ‘I’m Sirius Black, and that is James Potter.’ Said Sirius lazily, when the boy looked at James who was taking out a bottle of pumpkin juice.
‘I’m Peter- er- Peter Pettigrew. Glad to meet you.’ Peter looked a little more cheerfully, his cat meowing slightly. James lifted up his head, drinking.
‘I’m sorry to disturb you, but the other compartments are all crowded.’ After a knock at the door, another boy came in, closing the door politely. At the first sight, Remus Lupin and his refined manners were totally kept in James’s mind, and there left nothing serious about his shabby dress. Cutting a nice figure, he even made a good impression on Sirius Black, the boy wearing a marble face all the time.
‘Nice to meet you.’ Said Remus quickly, opening his old trunk and taking out a thick, hardcover book, then started to reading, as if there’s nothing around him except clean atmosphere. Sirius showed a bored look, lying quietly, and James found surprisingly that Peter had fallen into a sweet slumber.
After a short silence, he came to speak, ‘Hey… Which house would you like to be in?’
Surely it was a nightmare again. Thought Sirius. The horrible war had been making every one of the Order of the Phoenix extremely nervous. When he woke up, of course, he would pleasantly find that he was lying in the bed with splendid tassels chosen by himself, whom still had a noble type, though he had never admitted.
‘Hey guy, where are you going for vacation?’ Someone patted him on the back.
‘No matter where to go, I can’t imagine that a summer sharing with Cissy and Regulus will be so much fun.’ Sirius groaned, without turning backwards. James shrugged his shoulders, expressing powerless, went on to look for Remus. A girl with blonde hair stared at his tall and graceful figure in the distance, simpering.
At the age of thirteen, James Potter had already become really handsome. Sirius looked through the bright windows, his face breaking into a smile. If James didn’t mention, he would scarcely realize that summer holidays has been drawing so near…
‘Sorted in Gryffindor, how dare you come back!’ Shouted his father, closed the door right in front of him. ‘Dad, let me in!’ He cried, but no one cared about him anymore. The dusk was falling, the eleven-year-old boy sat down slowly, trying hard not to let out a cry of fear…‘You blood traitor!’ ‘Shame of my flesh!’ ‘Gryffindor!’ ‘Sirius, wake up!’ His cousin, Bellatrix, opened the door, disdain written on her face…
‘Sirius, wake up!’ Opening his eyes, Sirius was still groggy with sleep. After a while, he abruptly realized that it was James who stood in front of him, with Remus and Peter, couldn’t conceal his smile, his black hair waving like windflowers in blossom. Something strange was shining in his left hand.
‘What’s that?’ Asked Sirius, lazily. ‘A gift for your boring holidays.’
Sirius jumped up. James passed the strange thing to him, grinning from ear to ear. Sirius gazed. It was a small square mirror which looked very common, his own reflection looking back at him, smiling, and slowly transformed into James’s complacent face. Sirius’s mouth came to open. ‘Is it- it can’t be- a two-way mirror?’
He asked a few minutes later, feeling it hard to breathe. Peter seemed to be lost in wonder. ‘It’s really, tremendously precious…’ A desire shining in the short boy’s eyes, ‘James, where did you get it? How much did it cost?’
‘My uncle John is a two-way mirror collector.’ Answered James lazily, ‘he gave this pair to me as a gift on my thirteenth birthday.’ Then he turned to Sirius again.
‘Use it if you need me, all right?’
